The heart and soul of Kensington's child sponsorship program is rooted in one of our three core values: Live openhandedly.

Realizing "it's not all about me" is the key to finding a life of true meaning and purpose. Sharing our financial resources with others can make both a temporary and an eternal difference in their lives.

Right now, there are 2.2 billion children in the world. 1 billion of them live in poverty. We can’t help them all, but we must do something.

As a church, we divide our resources between people living "here" in our own area, and "there" across the globe. In spring 2010, we launched our orphan sponsorship program with a specific target of reaching two of the world's poorest people groups in India and Kenya.

The needs of the poor are so enormous that we can be tempted to give up and do nothing. So we decided to zero in and make a difference by working through our trusted Global Partners who run established orphanages in India and Kenya. To learn more about these Partners, click here.

Our goal is to stop children from dying of starvation and thirst. But there's more to it. Close to half of all people in developing countries are suffering from health problems caused by dirty water and bad sanitation. So we're also supplying them with medical attention and basic health care. But there’s another problem. Nearly 1 billion people are unable to read or write. Illiteracy dooms them to a life of grinding poverty. So we supply all of our sponsored kids with primary education and in many cases, secondary schooling, too. Plus, every child in our care learns about the God of the Bible who loves them.

Our sponsors are ordinary people leading ordinary lives who've simply decided to use whatever they have to make amazing things happen. Thanks to favorable exchange rates, the American dollar allows us to transform lives on your behalf for just $38 a month... about $1.30 a day – less than a fancy cup of coffee.

Alone we can't do much. But together we can feed hungry kids, rescue exploited kids, educate illiterate kids, and bring the hope of Jesus to entire communities. Thanks for helping.
